Friday 5th June

Today still difficult after the felling of the tree.  I am at home, abiding by lockdown restrictions, and digging deep to recover.

In central London, Black Lives Matter mass protests are gathering to protest against the killing of George Floyd in America. George Floyd was murdered after being arrested by police outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Footage shows a white officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Mr Floyd’s neck for several minutes while he is pinned to the floor. Mr Floyd is heard repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe”. He is pronounced dead later in hospital.

  1. You should look around and see if there are any more mature trees in your neighbourhood and find out if they have Tree Preservation Orders on them, If they don’t, you should ask for TPOs on them. The borough website should have information about which trees are protected. I share your concern for these irreplaceable mature trees; in times of climate crisis, when urban shade is going to be even more necessary and mature trees sustain biodiversity, they should be preserved.,
